Welcome to the Geospatial Subcommittee ( GSC)
website and clearinghouse!

This is a coordinated point of contact dedicated to providing high-quality information and expertise on the use of geospatial data, standard, applications, and processes in support of interagency wildland fire management.

THROUGH SHARING INFORMATION the GSC is committed to improving fire safety and wildland fire management by:

  • Supporting all wildland fire activities including planning, incident management, education and prescribed fires
  • Developing and recommending wildland fire geospatial data standards
  • Encouraging the use of geospatial technology in wildland fire management
  • Sharing geospatial information through workshops, conferences and training

The 2012 GSTOP Field Review document is ready for distribution to the field for user testing during the 2012 fire season and may be downloaded by clicking on the following file: GSTOP_2012FieldReview_20120426.pdf

Comments will be accepted through August 31, 2012. Comments and changes requests must be submitted through the GSC site at, http://gis.nwcg.gov/gstop_changerequest.html

Announcing the GSC Map Gallery!

Have you created a map product on an incident utilizing the Standards and that you would like to share? Send it in to us, and we will post the best ones!

We have posted several maps created during the 2005 and 2006 fire seasons! Visit the Map Gallery page to see them and for more information about how to submit a map.
